Lead variables and {{variables}}

How the script refers to what arrives with each lead: the built-in variables, how webhook and CSV fields become variables, how to add your own, and what happens when a value is missing.

Updated 5 October 2026

A variable is a slot in the script, written {{key}}, filled in on every call from the details that came with that lead. The Lead variables panel on the Call script tab lists them: click one to insert it in the line you are editing, or Edit to add your own with a label and a key.

Always available

  • {{emp_name}}: the caller's name. {{business_name}}: your business name from Settings.
  • {{customer_name}}, {{customer_phone}} and {{lead_source}} are sent with every call. {{lead_name}} is another name for the customer name.
  • The standard list also includes {{interest}} (what they enquired about), {{appointment_date}} and {{appointment_time}}.

Variables from your leads

Every extra field posted to a lead-response webhook, every extra column in a lead CSV, and every extra column in a call list CSV becomes a variable. Keys are lower-cased, with spaces and hyphens turned into underscores: a Budget (INR) column becomes {{budget_inr}}. Up to 20 extra fields per lead.

Lead → variables
{"phone": "9876543210", "name": "Asha Rao", "Budget (INR)": "50L", "Project": "Lakeview"}

{{customer_name}} = Asha Rao
{{budget_inr}}    = 50L
{{project}}       = Lakeview

When a value is missing

If the script uses a variable that is not a lead field, the Call script tab warns you that nothing fills it in, so the caller would read it out as written. Add it under Lead variables or remove it from the script. The caller is also told never to say the braces when a value did not arrive, and to carry on without it.
